Is Internet Reciprocal Teaching the Remedy for Saudi EFL Learners’ Reading Difficulties During the Covid-19 Pandemic?

The aim of this study was to investigate the applicability Internet Reciprocal Teaching (IRT) for remedial English reading instruction in EFL context, specifically purpose overcoming difficulties encountered by low-achieving Saudi students majoring at University Jeddah. treatment phase lasted three months and, due COVID-19 pandemic and resulting shift online teaching, instruments used were an pre- post-test comprehension, IRT dialogue rubric downloaded on Blackboard platform that is as well a phone interview conducted with randomly selected from sample. findings indicated significant improvements comprehension learners participating study, reflected students’ effective use different strategies results post-test. However, despite proved effectiveness strengthening some challenges voiced participants. These include computer competency, familiarity courses most notably, their linguistic English, which justified resorting native language (Arabic) one way demonstrating comprehension. Finally, paper draws pedagogical implications research results.
